DescriptionMade of carved pink marble, Nike-Lotus combines a somewhat distorted brand logo and adds in a bit of the natural world with a flower at the smaller point. The stone is left fully smooth in a clean, minimalist way that helps draw the attention of the viewer to just the shape and the flower. The flower, a lotus, which is associated with themes of rebirth and enlightenment, and the invocation of Nike, greek goddess of victory and the speed of the logo and streamlined design.

The simple, stone shape holds a similar appeal to the works of the Italian futurists, who created paintings and sculptures with minimal details and clean lines in a kind of early 20th century ideal of what the speed of the future might feel like. In some ways, the curve and points of Nike-Lotus give a similar visual interest in minimal forms and topics of the future.
