DescriptionGordon Newton was quite possibly the most prolific Cass Corridor artist. Employing an extensive list of mediums, Newton produced works in a seemingly obsessive manner using the same materials, words, and shapes over and over. Newton’s works are often times ambiguous, leaving little clues as to their inception and intent. The word "ballast" implies a sense of stability, as well as objects that provide stability. Untitled (Ballast) shares a resemblance to an electrical ballast despite being precariously hung.
