DescriptionCommissioned by the WSU Alumni Association to mark the centennial of the origin of the university in 1868, this four-foot bronze medallion portrays General Anthony Wayne whose fiery personality and military exploits in the American Revolutionary war earned him the moniker ‘Mad Anthony.’ Born in Italy, Sergio De Giusti arrived in Detroit in 1954. He received both his bachelor and masters degrees from WSU. In 2003, De Giusti collaborated with fellow alumni, David Barr, on Transcending, a monumental sculpture located in Detroit’s Hart Plaza.
