DescriptionDetroit native Robert Sestok attended the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts (now the College for Creative Studies) from 1965 to 1969 and the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1970. Like many other Cass Corridor artists, Sestok is known for re-appropriating found objects to create intricate collage-like sculptures. This technique of clustering simple shapes to create complex forms is a thread through much of Sestok’s work, and can be seen in this pencil drawing. The artist repeats the shape of a bicycle, creating a rhythmic composition in which the viewer’s eyes can seamlessly flow across—finding new, intricate details the longer they observe.Collections
