Discard is a captivating body of work composed of several distinct series of photographic prints that highlight the forgotten movie films cast aside by public institutions like libraries, schools, and archives. Inspired by the poignant tradition of 19th-century post-mortem photography, each print serves as a haunting memento mori for these obsolete films. More than just a visual celebration, this series invites us to reflect on the often-capricious nature of cultural preservation—prompting us to ponder why certain artifacts are chosen for digitization and preservation while others are abandoned to obscurity.
