DescriptionWilliam Antonow received his BFA and MFA from Wayne State University, and was a founding member of Detroit’s Willis Gallery. This untitled sculpture is an example of Antonow’s earlier works of abstracted bronzes. Cast from a construction of egg cartons, the sculpture does not immediately create a recognizable form, but upon further inspection the sculpture becomes reminiscent of decrepit buildings and sewer grates. This alongside a corrosive looking patina create a stunning example of the Cass Corridor’s penchant for gritty, urban and industrial themes.
