Coyote No. 1
Just before dark
watched a coyote take a crap
on the rock out cropping,
flexing hips (no time off)
swiveled owl-like to see
in all six directions:
sky above
earth below,
points of compass
in two half circles.
There.
And there is no distance.
He knows the dreamer
that dreams his dreams.
