DescriptionLetterpress printed poem by Derek Miller.Letterpress printed drawing by Mike Mikolowski.
the smell of cigar
smoke enters the room
like the cat
that pays its visits
late to the back
door at night
"shape of the angel"
written with spray paint
blackened hands
on kitchen windowpane,
and "head north while
you still can" warns
adventurers
that is not so
much a description
of a place, like the
visit to K-Mart for
motor oil was when I
was born this place
was here it is a
description of the
time spent watching
coffee cool and
noting for once the
positioning of time
trash and indesicion
would annoy me otherwise
refrigerator, human
dust and couches next
door in the morning
when the sun is
right you can see
them sitting there
always without a care
in the world retirement
furnished by abandon
the sun is
right you can see
them sitting there
always without a care
in the world retirement
furnished by abandon
the sun is four or fifteen
billion years old and
here we are, dependent
accountable to the seasons
to the voices that
one expects to hear
across the hallway
to the dreams that
wake us up while
the radiators hiss and
the light through the curtains
becomes unbearable
